Happy Halloween
Good evening everyone! I hope you have had a great Halloween day thus far and it only continues to get better tonight! I just realized that this is my first holiday blogging since I started my blog this summer. Yeah :)

This is my lil dog Bella! Isn't she so cute dressed up in her Halloween costume and bow?! She says HAPPY HALLOWEEN :)

To start off my Halloween morning I had a yogurt mess with Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, and a sliced banana! I know it is not very Halloween spiritied but I don't really have any Pumpkin foods in my dorm room.

My dad came up to visit me this afternoon and to watch the football game! It was nice to see him and spent time together :) He brought me up a bag of stuff (like my CAMERA!!!) and slipt me some mulah ;) Love when he visits. Yes, I finally have my OWN camera back and I can now give my friend's camera back to her. I am so thankful to have such nice friends and I am so excited I have my camera back! Even though my college team was winning the whole entire game...they ended up losing :( But it was a good game!Dinner tonight was broiled chicken, mixed viggies, and an artisan dinner roll.

Well I am off to get ready for Halloween festivities round two! Tonight I will be rockin' the black cat again because I absolutely love my costume! My friends are all being different colored M & M's, I could be one with them tonight since they got me a shirt but I love by cat, it is so cute!

What is everyone being for Halloween? I wanna know :)

Not so good oats

Not so good oats
I must admit I am have not master making oats yet :( So I need all the suggestions I can get. I have only made oatmeal once before and it was kind of an experimental trial, they tasted alright but were just a little bland.
But this morning when I made oatmeal I didn't even want to finish it, that's how bad it was :( I was very disappointed! I mixed a packet of Original Quaker oats, 2/3 cup water with 1 sliced Granny smith apple.
I put it into the microwave for a minute and a half and it came out like this...very soupy and not how I expected.I added a little Teddie's peanut butter to give it some more flavor but it was still very bland and had NO yummy taste whatsoever. This was the worst breakfast I have had in a long time. I think tomorrow I will be sticking to my yogurt mess which I know will be yummy. But I am still very willing to try more oatmeal mixes. So if you have any yummy recipes for oatmeal, send 'em on over to me ;)

But to make up for my yucky breakfast I only had one class this morning and then went out with my girlfriends to finally get Halloween costumes. Yeah I know I told you the other day we were gonna be robbers but I don't think we are doing that anymore, maybe tomorrow night. But tonight I am going to be a CAT!

Lunch this afternoon was a smoked turkey whole wheat wrap with swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, with pretzels and a Red pear!I am officially on a pear-kick if you can't tell! I tried a RED pear today and I couldn't really tell you the difference between that and a green pear. But they are both juicy yummy
Dinner was broiled chicken, veggie blend, and an artisan roll. Look at all the veggies, I love it!

Well since tonight is Halloween Eve I am off to celebrate! Hope you all have a great Friday!

Are you celebrating Halloween both nights this weekend like me?

Mix My Granola

Mix My Granola
Yeah Friday is tomorrow and Halloween is Saturday! Oh so close to the weekend :) I hope your day was well today.
This morning I woke up, showered and ate breakfast while checking my e-mails, blog, facebook, etc, the usual ;) Good thing I did check my e-mail because my sociology professor sent us an e-mail earlier this morning letting us know she cancelled class because her son got sick last night...score! I mean I hope her soon feels better but I was happy to hear I didn't have an 8:30 class.
My yogurt mess had Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and a lil bit of Teddie's pb all mixed together :)

After my two classes I checked my mail (like I do everyday) because I love getting packages and letters! Today I had a package but I knew what it was, but I was still exctied about it!

A few weeks back I won the giveaway from Nutricious is Delicious, and I finally got around to ordering some!

I received a $10 giftcard for winning the giveaway. I picked the low fat cranberry granola with almonds, cranberries, and a hint of coconut.

Jenna's Granola Mix...creative name, right?! It took me so long to come up with.
Ingredients: Low-Fat Granola and Lots of LOVE <3

Lunch was a different kind of turkey today, it was very dry and much different from the usual smoked turkey I get each day. Although it was very good I had no problem with it. I had a turkey whole wheat wrap with swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes with pretzels and a juicy pear with milk. I really enjoy pears and I miss eating them, so you might be seeing more of them on the blog ;) The last time I had a pear was in my yogurt mess a few weeks back, but today I got to enjoy each juicy bite.

This afternoon I ran a few errands with my friend Carly and then met with my tutor for my Biochemistry class. It is not that I am doing poor in the class but I just want to keep on top of everything so I can be very successful in the class!
Before dinner I decided to go work out at the gym. I busted out 40 minutes on the elliptical and it felt great. After working out I quickly showered and then ate my delicious dinner that was waiting for me, broiled chicken, green beans & carrots, and a dinner roll. The caf guy didn't skimp on the veggies at all. I am now getting to know which caf servers to go to ;)
Since today was a very busy day I am going to take it easy tonight and watch Grey's!!
Has anyone tried Mix My Granola?!

Autumn-y colors

Happy Humpday everyone! Today has been nothing but RAIN. It hasn't stopped all day. So after my two morning classes today was spent doing lots of homework on this rainy day. But I can't complain because I did get a lot of work done, so I was happy ;)
Lunch was a roasted turkey whole wheat wrap with swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes with pretzels, a Red Delicious and milk. All I could think of when I looked at my dinner was the color there was. It just reminded me of autumn-y colors! There is lots of browns with reds and yellows just like leaves. Anyone else with me?!

I have all my food groups in my dinner... protein, grain, and veggies. Check check and check! I have noticed my blogs have become quite shorter and boring recently but I just have been soo busy with school and such. Soooo to change this PROBLEMO, my goal for this upcoming week is to spice up mahh blog! Everyone else with me? Good :)

Do you try to have all your major food groups in each meal of the day?

Late Dinner

Late Dinner
Late Dinner, indeed it was! I would consider eating dinner at 9 o'clock is pretty late. Don't ya think?! Well I think so and I don't really like it either.
Lunch this afternoon was the same old, smoked turkey on a whole wheat wrap with swiss cheese lettuce, and tomotoes, with pretzels and a delicious Red Deilicous apple with milk on the side.
I am not gonna lie, but I spent the majority of my afternoon after lunch relaxing and I may or may have taken a quick cat nap ;) But then I did get some work done, so don't worry.
Around 6 o'clock I went out with my girlfriends to find costumes for Halloween! Yeah I know we definitely waited until the last minute but after THREE hours at the mall we finally all agreed on a costume! It is really hard when there is such a big group of you trying to decide on one costume. But at last all six of us agreed on being ROBBERS :D The costumes are so bad a$$. I am really excited :)
Since I did not expect it to take three hours at the mall I did not eat dinner before hand. I figured we would be back at a decent time for dinner, but boy did I think wrong. So when I got back I nearly sprinted to my room to heat up my dinner. Luckily I did get some dinner before we left so when I got back all I had to do was heat it up in the micro!
Dinner was delicious. I had one of my all time favorite side of veggies from the caf, tri-colored glazed carrots, they are amazing! I also had a piece of broiled chicken and an artisan roll with a glass of milk as well.

Sorry for such a quick late post. But better late than never! I am off to get some work done and go to bed early :)

Don't skimp on the veggies

Don't skimp on the veggies
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great start to your school or work week. Hopefully this week will go by fast since Halloween is this weekend and there will be lots of fun festivities going on this week.
My breaky this morning consisted of Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt topped with Kashi Go Lean and a sliced banana with milk on the side. Since today is Monday I had a morning appointment with Karen.
After two classes this morning I had some lunch before lab. The caf was out of smoked turkey (which you all know I get everyday!) So I settled for regular turkey which was not a problem at all. I actually don't even know what the difference between the two is, do you?! Anyways, I got regular turkey with swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes on a whole wheat wrap with pretzels and a Fuji apple with milk. Please not I did have more pretzels than those on my plate! As I was getting my lunch set up I kept snacking on them ;) Hehe.
Dinner tonight was broiled chicken, VEGGIES, and an artisan dinner roll with a glass of milk while watching the Democratic candidates in the race for Senate. Yes, I know I am so studious ;)
I am defintely going to the same lady who gave me my veggies tonight from now on, she did NOT SKIMP ON THE VEGGIES! Now that is what I like :)

Closed till 3 o'clock

Closed till 3 o'clock
Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a great weekend :) This morning for breakfast I had a little something different. I had a nice big bowl of fruit of Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt and Kashi Go Lean with a glass of milk on the side. The rest of my morning was spent back in bed laying down to get some more rest since I went to bed rather late last night ;) So since this weekend was Parent's Weekend the dining hall was closed all morning becuase they were holding a brunch. But I wasn't worried because I am always prepared and have food in my room and had everything I needed for breaky, so the dining hall being closed didn't effect me until I was hungry and wanted to get some lunch at 2 this afternoon!

I wasn't sure what time the dining hall was re-opening but I heard throught he grape vine it was opening at 2, so that is when I went over and found the doors were locked :/ I was quit upset because I was hungryyyy!

Luckily my girl Carly has a car on campus and is so generous and let me use it to go get me some lunch and her coffee, obvs! So off I went to QUIZNO'S and got myself a turkey wheat sandwich with swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes toasted. Mmmm. 'Twass very good! I love Quizno's.

By the time I got back to school it was nearly 3 o'clock and I was starving by then so I had my sandwich, an apple, and pretzels with milk.

And just to let you all know...right when I got back to campus at 3 o'clock, the dining hall re-opened. I have the worst luck! Hah. But I didn't mind because I was looking forward to my Quizno's.

My afternoon was spent doing more homework and tonight I am going to relax and studying for my quiz tomorrow! Good night y'all.

Yogurt Mess in a Jar

Yogurt Mess in a Jar

I kid you not! That is exactly what I had this morning for breakfast, a Yogurt Mess in a Jar :) I was debating on having oatmeal in a jar again and use a different recipe, but since I just had it yesterday morning I opted for something different! These are all of my peanut butter jars I have with me in my room. I recently finished both the Naturally More and PB & Co., so now all I have left is Teddie's and Crazy Richard's (which I have yet to try but I am really excited about!) It took me a longgg time to polish off these peanut butters since I usually have a different peanut butter each morning! So I deserved to do something special with the last droppings of pb, and that would me to make a Yogurt Mess in a Jar! This morning's Yogurt Mess in a Jar was in my PB & Co. Smooth Operator!
Have you ever peeled your banana like a monkey? Well neither have I until this morning. A monkey usually peels a banana from the opposite end to the normal side. You understand?! So you basically hold them stem of the banana (like I am doing) and then pinch the other side and then peel open :) You should try it sometime!
My Yogurt Mess in a Jar consisted of Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, and a sliced banana on top! I swear there is yogurt and cereal underneath the banana!
See I told you! After a good mix in the jar you can see the yogurt ;) My yogurt mess in a jar was very delicious! I am not sure which I liked better, the oatmeal or yogurt mess in a jar?! I think I am leanign towards the oatmeal in a jar though!
On this rainy day I am off to work at a lacrosse auction my lacrosse team is holding at our school's cafeteria! I hope it is not raining where you live but regardless have a nice Saturday :)

Oats in a Jar

Oats in a Jar
Happy Friday! I am done for classes for the day and the weekend is finally here :) At my college this weekend it is FAMILY WEEKEND! I am not sure which day my family is coming up (either tomorrow or Sunday) but they are defs coming up to visit!! I can't wait to see them.Quick recap of last night's dinner included broiled chicken, mixed veggies, a dinner roll with milk. Nothing special but then I did watch Grey's Anatomy and relaxed for the rest of the night to try and get rid of my cold.
This morning's breaky included oatmeal... a nice overly ripe banana...and an almost empty jar of Naturally More pb!So can you guess what I had this morning?! If you guessed OATS IN A JAR, then you are correct :) This was my first time having oatmeal! I was super anxious to finally try oatmeal and also try oats in a jar :) 'Twas a great morning breakfast!

I followed the directions on the box and mixed one package of plain oatmeal with 2/3 cup water and microwaved it for 1:30. I thought that seemed like a lot of water but after microwaving it the oats soaked up all the water and it came out nice and mushy and had a great consistency. I then poured the oatmeal in the pb jar and sliced a banana on top and then gave it a nice mix together!
Yumm! I can't believe this was my first time trying oatmeal! I really did enjoy it and I will definitely be having more of this hot oatmeal especially since the weather is getting colder. Nice hot oatmeal will be the perfect morning breakfast!

The overall taste of the oatmeal was very boring since it was just plain. But the addition of the banana and peanut butter definitely made it tastier!

What do you like to mix in with your oats?!

Nutrition Seminar

Nutrition Seminar

Good evening all of my blog friends! I sure hope Thrusday treated you all well. My day was quite long. I had three classes, and then recitation class and then I went to a NUTRITION SEMINAR :) My campus invited two guest speaker, both who talked about nutrition and eating disorders. How cool, right?! So of course right when I heard this was happening I immediately wrote it in my planner to attend ;)

The seminar was very interesting and talked a lot about fueling your body and proper nutrition. I had no idea they were going to talk about ED but I was glad they did! But most of the information I already knew! There was a decent amount of people there (although most were members from the XC team since it was mandatory for them). One funny part was when the dietician presented a typical meal plan for a female individual my age. Then the whole XC team told her that they eat WAY more food than that a day. One girl said "That is how much food I eat at one meal, nevermind a whole day." It was very interesting to see the questions and comments that arose from the XC team because I am always curious as to how much they run and how they fuel their bodies. The XC coach said his team runs about 60 miles per week, so they definitely need a lot of calories per day!
Anyways, so going back to this morning before my busy day started. I had a DIFFERENT breaky!

I had a yogurt mess with Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced PEAR, and the last spoonful of PB & Co. Smooth Operator pb with milk on the side. So I have to be truthfully honest with you I was NOT a big fan of the pear in my yogurt mess, I just thought it was way too sweet for me! So I don't think I will be having pear in my yogurt messes any time soon. Nothing beats BANANAS in a yogurt mess, let me just throw that out there!

What are your favorite fruits or toppings to put into yogurt messes?

Dinner was broiled chicken, mixed veggies, and a Harvest Dinner Roll with oats and milk.

Thank goodness tomorrow is finally Friday! I thought this week went by pretty fast. Don't know what I am going to do tonight, but I am pretty sure it will involve homework and relaxing! Nighty night :)

40 minutes and it felt so good

40 minutes and it felt so good

TWSS! Right? No no, that is NOT what I am talking about. Gosh. What I am talking about though is how I went to the GYM this afternoon!! Yes, you heard me right. I did 40 minutes on the elliptical and it felt so good to finally be able to exercise. I ellipticized for 40 minutes while jammin' out to my new songs on the iPod touch!

Oh yeah and if you were wondering what I ate last night here it is. A piece of broiled chicken, BROCOLLINI, and a Harvest Wheat Roll with oats, and milk.
What can I say? I just love my veggies :)
But let me rewind to this morning because I had something different for breaky! Can you believe that? Every breakfast this week has been different and I am so proud (and so should all of you because you get to look at new foodie pics!!)

So last night I really wanted to try making overnight oats. I searched on blogs on how to make overnight oats using yogurt. I know lots of bloggers make overnight oats but most of them don't use yogurt! I finally found a recipe I liked from SnackFace! It was just what I was looking for.

Last night I mixed 1 (5.3 oz) Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, 1 banana, a little less than 1/3 cup oats, and 1/8 cup milk. I mixed it all together in a bowl and let is sit overnight in the fridge. I was super anxious to see how it was going to taste and look like in the morning. When I mixed everything together it was rather soupy and I was hesitant on adding the milk in. But I did anyways because that is what the recipe called for.
This morning came and there was really no preparation to be done except add a dollop of Naturally More peanut butter on my oats and eat it ;) I love it when the mornings are so easy. The oats soaked up all the yogurt and milk and it came out great, it wasn't soupy at all! The texture was rich and thick and was most importantly were delicious! The overnight oats got an A in my book. Next I will be sure to try overnight oats without the yogurt :)
CToday was absolutely beautiful :) The temps were in the 60's and I was able to wear just a long sleeve tank and jeans! I love nice fall weather. It has been the strangest weather out. A few days ago it was freezing and then today it was beautiful but I am sure it will not last very soon.
Lunch was a smoked turkey whole wheat wrap with swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes with pretzels a honeycrisp apple and milk.

Then I was off to my appointment with the other Karen who I see every two weeks. It went really well and I enjoy talking to her on a regular basis.

Then I was off to the gym! I had been thinking all week on what day I should go and this afternoon I was really anxious and decided today was the day! Now I haven't been inside the gym on campus since last March! It is a brand new gorgeous facility with state of the art equipment. I am really lucky to have such a great gym on campus :) I was super nervous to tell you the truth. I opted on NOT running on the treadmill since today was my first day back at the gym. And to tell you the truth the treadmill kind of brings back bad memories from last year when I would just run and run and run. So today I decided I would just do 20 minutes on the elliptical but then it turned into 30 minutes and then 40 minutes! I felt great and I just did not want to stop. So I finally felt that 40 minutes was a sufficient amount of time in the gym considering it was my first day back exercising! I broke a decent sweat, burned lots of calories (not that I care anyways!) and had a great time! It felt so good :) I can't wait to go back soon.

Later I am going to grab some dinner, do some homework and relax!
