Mighty excited!

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a great last weekend of February. Tomorrow is already March! Boy, did the month of February fly by or what!

I am MIGHTY excited because I picked up PB & Co.'s Mighty Maple peanut butter at the grocery store tonight!
Peanut butter blended with yummy maple syrup

Sounds like a pretty tasty combination! I can't wait to try this peanut butter! I don't really know what to expect. But I do know PB & Co. has yet to let me down, so I am sure Mighty Maple with be just as good as the other flavors I have tried so far!

What are your thoughts on Mighty Maple?!

You guessed it!

Happy Saturday! This morning I woke up to snow! This weather is just so crazy these past few days. It has either been snowing, raining, or sleeting all the time. I just want it to be spring :)

Well I guess my special something I looked at yesterday was a bit too easy or else you guys are just too smart ;) But for all of you who guessed a CAR...you guessed it! My mom and I bought a car for my sister and I :) It is kind of a sore subject in my house right now because my mom kinda just bought the car without really discussing it with my dad! Whoops.

This morning I had a yog mess with Vanilla Chobani, Kashi Go Lean, a banana, and Naturally More peanut butter on top with a glass of milk.
Like I said yesterday, Naturally More peanut butter is very peanut buttery, which I loveee! It is thick and has a chunky consisency after you give it a nice stir. It is great mixed in my yogurt messes and I love it when I get a big spoonful of peanut butter. Mmmm!

FYI, If you ever try this peanut butter I just want to warn you it is kind of hard to stir in the jar and I always make a lil mess!

Lunch today was turkey with american cheese and apple slices on wheat bread with TJ's pretzel slims and the rest of the apple with a glass of milk. Sorry for the somewhat boring post :/ Hopefully tomorrows post will be filled with more foodie pics ;)

Anyone have any fun plans for the night?! Please share!

A special something ;)

Friday, February 26, 2010

Ya ya ya it is finally Friday which means I am officially on Spring Break :) I came home last night since my one class for today got cancelled! I am so glad I wasn't at school last night because my girls were all telling me the electricity went out for a few hours!

Yesterday afternoon my mom and I went to Trader Joe's and then I later went to the grocery store to pick up some staples.
Kashi Go Lean, Boca Burgers, Cedarlane Enchiladas, and a bunch of different Greek yogurts!! And of course some new Luna bars!I also picked up some LaraBars that I am hooked on now thanks to my gal Meg ;) I never realized how many flavors they had! I can't wait to try them all since I have only had PB & J so far. But I have heard great reviews on all the other flavors!

This morning I tried Yoplait's new Plain Greek yogurt! I have read mixed reviews on this yogurt but I really liked it, it was thick and had no liquid on top when I opened it which was a plus.

Plus some Kashi Go Lean (my staple cereal in my yogurt messes). I really wanted to try other cereals but I just don't know what other cereals go well in a yogurt mess! Any suggestions?!I tried Naturally More Organic peanut butter for the first time last Monday on top of banana oatmeal before I went back to school on the very stressful Monday!

I I really enjoyed the organic peanut butter. I was kind of hesitant trying this peanut butter because of the oil on top, but after a nice stir it was all mixed together. This peanut butter has a very thick consistency and it very chunky. The flavor is very peanut-buttery! I really enjoyed this peanut butter the first time around so that is why I had it again this morning :)
My Friday morning yogurt mess :) I am off to shower and get ready for the day, then my mom and I are going to look at something special, can ya guess what it is?!

The first winner who answers correctly will recieve a PRIZE! Let me know in a comment on this post what you think it is ;)

Nervous Nelly

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Happy Happy Humpday! I woke up to snow this morning but now it is raining and it is nasty outside :/ I hope it is a bit nicer wherever you are!

So if you don't know Wednesdays are my days when I have my weekly appointments with Karen at Health Services where she weighs me and does my blood pressure and pulse. Last night I was SUPER nervous for my appointment this afternoon. You could definitely call me Nervous Nelly ;) To calm my nerves down a bit I texted all of these fabulous chicas...Meg, Shelley, and Katie! Thank you for all of your support and kind words!

After a good nights sleep last night I woke up and had a yogurt mess with Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter on top with milk on the side.I had some Crazy Richard's this morning because I felt like I was neglecting him ;) Gotta keep switching up the nut butters each day!
Much better all mixed up!

Morning snack was a Strawberry Kiwi Naked Juice with a Kashi Trail Mix Bar.

While having my snack I also read some cards I got from my girl CARLY! She is amazing and I love and miss her so much at school!Lunch was the return of the veggie burger on whole wheat bread with pretzels, an apple, and milk. Then I was off to my appointment wicked nervous and anxious! I just keep fearing the worst, like if my weight, blood pressure, pulse went down or something! I like couldn't think positively :/ I mean I really shouldn't have been all that nervous if I have been following my meal plan like I have been doing! But I guess it is always good to be a lil nervous. But in the end my appointment went very well and she told me I am gaining at a nice rate! I was so relieved I did well this week. Now I just have to keep doing this well every week from here on out :)

I obvs had to call la madre to let her know how it went and she was very proud of me. But she was out prom dress shopping with my younger sis so she is gonna call me back later tonight! I can't believe my lil sis is already going to the Junior Prom this year, that is cray cray! I wish I was home dress shopping with her, it is such a fun time :) But oh wait, I will be home tomorrow because my teacher cancelled class for this Friday! Hollah.

A new bar I tried the other day was Chocolate Raspberry Luna Bar!
Very good flavor! This bar was a great combination of dark chocolate and raspberries. If ya like that combo of chocolate with fruit then this bar is for you. And with a little drizzle of icing on top was delicious!
One lil thing that has been bothering me lately are all of these ANON comments I still keep getting on my posts. I understand your concern for me and I really appreciate it. But, it has come to a point when I am just really annoyed with them :/ I know it may sound rude or harsh but it is true.

I got quite a bit of anon comments yesterday telling me lavash bread is low calories, asking why I don't post my dinners (and if it is still chicken, bread, and veggies). Now these comments don't really bother me all that much.

But there was one comment that did irke be a bit and here it is...

Forgive me for being blunt. You are recovering from an eating disorder and you are eating a "yogurt mess" for breakfast? Every morning? Not only is that repetitive, but not nearly enough calories. basically it's just a bunch of junk thrown in a bowl and stirred up.

Lavash bread is extremely low in calories, and for milk, you should be drinking 2% or above, not 1% low fat. You should be trying t gain weight, not maintain or lose.

I seriously hope you are still getting some sort of hlp for this eating disorder, because it's obvious you still have it full on. You are basically eating all "diet" food here.

That "yogurt mess" or whatever it's called, is not appealing looking, nor would it have enough calories to fuel you through a morning.

You are extremely thin and need to eat enough calories to gain.

Please get some help.

So basically this person told me I really have no idea what I am doing to recovery! Anon says a yogurt mess is not nearly enough calories to gain on and is just a bunch of junk thrown together, eating a yogurt mess everyday is not normal, a yogurt mess does not look appealing, a yogurt mess could not possibly fuel me through the day, Iavash bread is low in calories and I should not eat it, I shouldn't drink 1% milk only 2%, and I am eating ALL diet foods. Oh yes and this person says I am extremely thin and I don't eat enough calories to gain or even maintain and I need to get some help! First of all I don't even know how she knows I am thin because I never post pictures of myself on my blog?!

So basically this anon really seems to know (or think she knows) a lot about me! But my point is, I just want to show you that is IS POSSIBLE to gain weight on what I have been doing and what I have been eating. I want to show you that recovery is different from every single person and not everything works the same for each person. This just really bothers me when people tell me I need to eat more and get serious help even though I am gaining on my meal plan (created just for me) and I do have an out-patient team. People think they know WAY more than they really do!

The rest of my day consists of Service Learning 4-6pm, dinner date with one of my girls, meeting, shower, and studying! And of course there will be some watching t.v. in there to keep me distracted. Well, I actually work better when the t.v. is on believe it or not.

Have a great rest of your Humpday!

Love me some lavash bread

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Well it is Tuesday which means it is no longer Monday but now one day closer to Hump Day :)

My Tuesday morning started out with a lovely yogurt mess with Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, sliced banana, and PB & Co. DCD on top with milk on the side!

It was the perfect breaky that fueled me through my theology test this morning at 8:30am! I just hope I did well on it ;)

After my test and two classes later I came back and had lunch.

Turkey and swiss on Joseph's Lavash Bread with an apple, popchips, and milk.

Instead of the usual wheat wrap I decided to get the lavash bread! I totally forgot how good lavash bread is, it is soo fresh and is my new favorite!

I also tried the Sea Salt & Vinegar Popchips. I was very hesitant on trying this flavor because I have never really liked salt & vinegar chips so I wasn't sure I was going to like these. But hey, I decided to give them a try and I ended up liking them! This flavor is strong, they are very salty and have a lot of vinegar but overall tasty. If you like Salt & Vinegar chips then you will LOVE these chips, trust me!

Now I only have one bag of popchips left and it is only the original flavor :( Boo! No more cool flavors to try out but I am sure the original will be great chips to dip into something or on the side with a sandwich ;)

Spring Break starts this Friday...only 3 more days!!

Well I am going to be somewhat studious this afternoon and get some work done, maybe get some reading done for Nursing but who knows?! I will probs just end up doing anything but homework ;)

Hope you have a great rest of your Tuesday :)

Have you ever tried lavash bread before?!

New eats left and right!

Monday, February 22, 2010

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend. I am excited, motivated, and ready to take on this week! I think it is because of this beautiful weather that I am so happy today :) But I am also excited because Spring Break starts on Friday...already! Isn't that crazy?!

In case you did not know this week is National Eating Disorder Week and Caitlin from Operation Beautiful is dedicated her blog to it this week. I think you all should go on over and check out her blog ;)

This morning for breaky I had a yogurt mess with some more DCD! Did you honestly think I wasn't going to have DCD again for breaky?! Let's be real ;)
In my yogurt mess was Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, banana, and PB & Co. DCD peanut butter on top with milk on the side. This morning for snack I had a Strawberry Kiwi Naked Juice with a Fruit & Nut Delight Kind Bar. This was my first time trying this bar and I was very pleased! It contained peanuts, almonds, brazil nuts, and walnuts along with pieces of fruit. My dining hall sells these bars so I am going to give the other flavors a try as well.Yesterday afternoon I also tried a new bar, Banana Nut Odwalla Bar. This bar tasted just like homemade banana bread with pieces of walnuts in it. I was very pleased with this bar! Then I tried yet another bar this afternoon! I have just been trying new things left and right, this is so not like me!

I had the Peanut Butter & Jelly Larabar! Yes, Meg you heard me right ;) Now I will honestly tell you I have been scared to try these bars only because they have a lot of fat calories :/ But after talking to my wonderful girl about it she discussed how the fats in these bars are healthy fats that will make my hair shine, my skin smooth, andmy nails grow! So
I told her my goal for this week was to try a Larabar and well I did! It took me less than a day to achieve my goal. See, I really am determined when I put my mind to it :)
I have seen a lot of hype over the PB & Jelly bar so I made sure to try this flavor first. My first bite into the bar did not impress me, I did not really taste anything. But after a few more bites and analyzing the flavor, I started to taste the peanut butter and cherries a little bit. I thought this bar was going to be a lot better than it was but it was just okay. But I would be willing to give it another try! I really liked how this bar had a very simple imgredient list with only dates, peanuts, unsweetened cherries, and salt. Well that is what I got for ya today! I am now off to do some studying and then get some dinner with the girls :) Then The Bachelor Women tell all tonight. Should get pretty juicy!

Have you tried any of these bars before?

They don't call it DCD for nothing!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

This morning I finally ventured out and opened my new PB & Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter! I was very excited to try this flavor and I really had no idea of what to expect besides it tasting like chocolate! Before putting some on top of my yogurt mess I took a lil lick from my spoon to taste it by itself and it was ahh-mazing! Like my girl Meg said, it tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup and she hit it right on the button, it really does! It was soo good :) They don't call it DARK CHOCOLATE DREAMS for nothing! This morning in my yogurt mess I had Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and a dollop of PB & Co. DCD peanut butter! All mixed up! You will definitely be seeing a lot more of DCD in my yogurt messes in the near future, don't worry ;)

Gonna go hang out and attempt to get some work done and then grab dinner with them later! Have a great rest of your Sunday :)

Yoatgurt?!

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a great weekend so far :)

So it was just a matter of time when I was going to hop on the band wagon and try this new yoatgurts inspired from the newly engaged Janetha ;) I have seen them on some many blogs like these lovely ladies...Shelley, Holly, Katie, and Kristie, I just knew I had to see what it was all about ;)

Who else has tried this popular new recipe of "yoatgurts"?

I was excited to try yoatgurts, I mean hot oats with cold yogurt topped with bananas and pb? Sounded good to me :)I cooked Plain Quaker Oats with 2/3 cup water in the micro for 1 minute and a half then topped it with Vanilla Brown Cow yogurt, Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter and a very mushy banana.Look at that yummy pool of peanut butter! Mmmm. I gave the yoatgurts a nice mix as I do with my yogurt messes. I am not sure if you are supposed to do this...but I did. Overall I thought it was just okay. Nothing can compare to my yogurt messes ;) But I think not being a big fan of oatmeal had a lot to do with it. However I did like the combination of the hot oats and the cold yogurt together but I did not like how the peanut butter disappeared in the mix :( I am glad I gave it a try because ya never know if you will like something unless you try it :)

Any suggestions on how to make the yoatgurts better?

This morning I got some work done (yes, I am still catching up on work I missed from the beginning of the semester! It seems like it never ends!) and also did some laundry. After my lil chores around the dorm room I fueled myself up with some lunch. I had a turkey and swiss cheese wheat wrap with pretzels, an apple, and milk.Last night the girls and I went to Hannaford's and CVS. We go out shopping at least twice a week, but this girl ain't complaining! I picked up some new Luna Bars, a Clif Bar, and a Kashi Roll Bar.I got a few bar reviews for ya before I head out to the mall with the chicas. Wednesday afternoon I tried the Peanut Butter Chocolate Harvest Power Bar.This bar had a great soft consistency and I loved the oats in this bar. I could taste the peanut butter and loved the chocolate chips coated on top :)

I also had a Carrot Cake Clif Bar yesterday afternoon and I really enjoyed it. I have had this flavor before but this time around was just delicious. I love the little pieces of carrots in it! Since I returned back to school this past Monday I made a goal for myself to have dinner with my girls in the dining hall every single night no matter what! And well I must tell you I accomplished my goal :) Like I said in my post earlier this week I love eating with my friends, it is so much fun.

But there is one thing I want to talk about with you all. As I have been dining with the girls this past week have often been comparing my meals with my friends. Eating with them, it is something that is just unavoidable. I always glance around the table to check out what everyone is eating.
But most of the time I just keep telling myself my body needs the food and it is good for me! I am lucky I get to indulge in all of this yummy food my body needs :)
Tonight for dinner there was a total of seven of us girls eating together and 5 of them had salads for dinner. Which left myself and my other friend the only two girls at the table not having salads.

Now a days so many college girls are concerned about what they look like and what they eat.
I think so many of them believe they should eat salads to stay or be skinny...which is so not true!

It is sometimes frustrating and triggering when I see girls just getting salads to eat all the time!

But I must say one of my friends did a nice job making her salad. As you can see I snipped some pics of my friends while at dinner (gotta love the iPhone!) She got a salad with chicken, dressing, a roll with butter, and a glass of milk. She was probably the only girl who made her salad into a well balanced meal. While the other girls just got a salad with chicken and water.
What I found interesting was what my other friend (who didn't get the salad) said to the rest of our friends. Since they were complaining they were all still hungry after their salads, she told them they have to eat more at dinner! I was glad she told them that! Me and her are very much alike with regards to a lot of things and she is a great friend :)

She was not mean at all when she told them they needed to eat more besides a salad for dinner. She is the girl who always gets a well balanced meal and eats very well. Tonight for dinner she had a PB & J sandwich on wheat bread, Blueberry Brown Cow yogurt with granola, a banana, and chocolate Silk Soymilk. She had some protein, carbs, fruit, and fat. Perfect meal and sounds like a great breakfast to have as well ;)
Well that is my post for the day! Now I am peacin out to get ready for the night :)
