Back at it...

Sunday, January 31, 2010

TOMORROW! Yes that is right, tomorrow I will be back at college! Can you believe it?! Well neither can I! I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to return back to school this semester at all because of stupid ED. So now I am able to go back I am super excited :) I guess I just worked really hard these past 2 weeks to prove I do want to get better and I can do this!

I have a lot of things going for me now and I knew I couldn't afford to let ED get in the way of things and ruin my life. I just got accepted into the Nursing Program at school and it means A LOT to me, and I didn't want to blow it.

I am all nervous, anxious, and scared about returning back to school. But I will be sure to let you know how it goes tomorrow! I am going back with my mom tomorrow morning and we have to meet with Health Services, buy all my books, and move back into my dorm room and all that fun stuff. I am sure my roomie loved having the room to herself for awhile but I am sure she missed me tons as well ;)

I was barely home at all today. I left the house at 10:30 this morning and just got back around 7pm. But to start my busy day off I had a yogurt mess with Plain Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and a dollop of Crazy Richard's creamy pb with milk on the side.
I just can't get enough. You can't tell me that doesn't look good? But it is even better all mixed up like the way a yogurt MESS should be ;)

I was out all day at my lil sister's basketball game and then to both of my sister's field hockey tourney, which they tied for first place!

I am now home and blogging obvs. But I now have to pack everything up and get ready to go back to school!! Packing shouldn't be that bad...at least I hope not!

Do enjoy packing and getting everything ready?!

"Your parents are so cool!"

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Wait, what?! Did someone actually say my parents were cool?! Haha yes they did! More on that in a lil bit ;)

I want to thank all of you who commented on my last post! It means a lot to me having all your support on me going back to school. I love all of the LOVE and support the blog world gives :)

My Saturday breakfast started off with a yogurt mess, Plain Brown Cow yogurt topped with Kashi Go Lean and a sliced banana with some creamy Crazy Richard's on top. And of course with a glass of milk on the side, a girls gotta get her calcium in for strong bones ;)
I know you guys are probably getting bored looking at my yogurt messes everyday in my same Anthropologie bowl. Don't lie, I know you are ;) I am actually suprosed you are still reading my blog daily! Hah. But hey a girls gotta eat and I am gonna eat what I like, and what I like to eat for breakfast is...YOGURT MESSES! But I must be honest I myself am getting pretty bored posting the same eats everyday! I'm not gonna lie.

But for the past two weeks since I have turned things around, I have been doing well and I have been having yogurt messes for breakfast every day. This meal seems to be working for me as I have been doing well so I keep continue to have them. I don't want to change things up if they are currenlty working for me. Does that make any sense?! I mean soon I know I will get sick of having yogurt messes every single day so I will have to switch it up! I mean there are other breakfast meals I did have before on my blog like cereal, oats, overnight oats, vitatops etc. But I just don't want to switch things up if they are currently working well for me. But I KNOW I must not be afraid of CHANGE. Change is good!

Well back to my parents being COOL ;) This afternoon I went to the phone store to set up my voicemail on my iPhone since it wasn't working properly. When the guy at the store brought up my phone information he told me he recognized the name and knew who my parents were. He told me they were his best customers and were so cool! I was thinking to myself...are we talking about the same people?! Haha. No, but really my parents are wicked awesome and I am truly thankful I have such cool parents. Now that I think of it my parents are VERY cool and hip compared to other parents. They have given me everything I every wanted in life and so much more. They may or may have not spoiled my sisters and I a little too much ;) They are both so supportive and always there for me. I love them both so much!

So enough talking about my cool parents, I am now off to relax on this cold Saturday night.

What is the weather like where you live?!

P.S. Florida bloggers, I don't wanna hear it is sunny and 70 degrees ;) Okay?!

Fly by week

Friday, January 29, 2010

Happy Friday! Boy did this week fly by and I am so not complaining! The weekend has arrived :)

Breakfast this morning was a yogurt mess with Plain Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and a dollop of Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter with a glass of milk on the side.
My Crazy Richard's peanut butter jar is getting low :( But I should not worry because this means oats in a jar, or what I like to have...yogurt mess in a jar very soon, and opening and trying a new peanut butter. Plus, when I go back to school (yes I am going back, I will get to that later!) I have another Crazy Richard's creamy and Teddie's smooth peanut butter waiting for me ;) Boy have I missed my Teddie's!

My morning was spent doing errands with my mom. Of course we hit up Target and then some other places. Let me tell you it was FRIGID out today! It was by far the coldest and windiest day so far this winter. Gotta love New England weather ;)

After lunch this afternoon I had another doctor's appointment where I was weighed in and got an EKG test done. I don't know how I did weight wise but my EKG came back normal, which I was glad. Usually my mom finds out how I did after the appointment but she didn't today, Candace the nurse didn't tell her! So I don't know if I lost, gained, or stayed the same :/ I am anxious to know though.

Then we all discussed me returning to school for this semester. My doctor gave me to okay to return back to school but under strict circumstances. She knows I will be able to do well as long as I keep doing what I am doing now and gaining weight. She also let me know she doesn't want to see me in her office in awhile so I better do well! Haha. I know Health Services up at my college is going to be keep a close eye on me and making sure I am doing what I am supposed to be.

I am not going to lie but I am actually quite nervous going back to school as well as I know everyone else is like my parents and Health Services. They all love me so much and they just want me to do well! So not only am I going to prove to myself I can do this but also to them because I love them as well!

Going back to school is not going to be easy and I know that! I am going to have to deal with the stress of classes, work, friends, and eating all at the same time without letting ED interfere. It is going to be a lot to handle but I am ready to go back to school and take on the challenge!

I know with all the support from my family, friends, Health Services, and you AWESOME bloggers I can do it! I just want to thank each and everyone of you bloggers for all of your amazing support :) It truly means a lot to me!

So again I had another appointment that went well and I left happy :) There is nothing better than leaving an appointment feeling good!

Well that is all the good news I have for you now! I am off to relax for the night and go to bed early because my throat is starting to hurt :( I hope I am not getting sick.

Happy Friday!!

Pizza and carbs

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Hey hey hey! Hope you had a great Thursday and tomorrow is already Friday! Woot woot.

Last night for dinner I had PIZZA! Pizza was definitely one of my fear foods early on in my stages of ED last year because pizza seems to get a bed reputation being bad and unhealthy. But it wasn't until at one of my appointments with my nutritionist this past summer where I learned pizza really doesn't deserve the bad rep! Can ya believe that? My nutritionist explained to me pizza has all the main food groups in it I need and to not be afraid of it. It took me awhile to grasp that concept but I eventually did. Over the summer I took that step and had pizza although it was very challenging for me but I did it. My favorite pizza toppings are veggies. I love pizza piled high with all veggies! The more the better.

What are your favorite pizza toppings?

So last night I tried the Kashi Roasted Vegetable Thin Crust pizza.

The pizza was very thin filled with broccoli, artichokes, red peppers, and onions with provolone and mozzarella cheeses. For a frozen pizza I thought there was a good amount of vegetables!I really enjoyed this pizza and would definitely buy it again! I would like to try the other Kashi pizzas as well.

This morning for breakfast I had a yogurt mess per usual with Plain
Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and Crazy Richard's peanut butter with a glass of milk on the side.
I just love this creamy peanut butter ;)

This morning for a snack I had a Strawberry
Boost with the last of my Trader Joe's trail mix. I must get me some more, but this time I will try a new trail mix!
This afternoon I met with my nutritionist which went very well! My mom was unable to come with me beacuse she was getting ready for my sister's basketball pasta party at our house. I didn't know if it was a good thing she couldn't come or not, but in the end it was fine! We first talked about any struggles I was having with my meal plan and my eating in general. Dinner still seems to be a problem for me so we talked about ways we could make it it a bit more manageable. The reason dinner has always been hard for me is because it is the last meal of the day and by that time of the day I am just so sick and tired of eating. I constantly think about how much I already ate through out the whole day :/

My meal plan I use now is based off the one I used when I was in-patient last year at Walden. For example my meals I followed at Walden consisted of getting in a certain amount of protein, grains, fruit, vegetables, fats, milk or juice. But when I go out to a restaurant they aren't necessarily going to have everything exactly on my meal plan served to me on a silver platter, ya know?!

Sooo what we did was we broke down my meal plan to all the carbs, proteins, and fats I need in each meal and snack. It is a lot easier to follow and I think it is more realisitic.

We talked a lot about CARBS! She explained everything I need to know about carbs and I left having a much better understanding!

She answered all of my questions I had for her and we even went on Subway and Panera Bread websites to look at the nutritional information to figure out meals that would fit into my meal plan which was very helpful! With my new meal plan broken down I feel a lot more comfortable going out to eat and being able to order food that will fit into my meal plan.

Overall I am very glad we broke down my meal plan to make it easier for me to follow. The appointment was very successul and I am meeting with her again next Wednesday! I plan to continue following my meal plan to a tee ;)

Well I am off to watch the new episode of the Real Housewives of O.C. with my mom and sister ;)

Just go with me

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Wow, is it really already Humpday? This week is flying by! But I guess it is going by fast considering all the appointments I have to go to. Okay I mean I only have like one each day so I am kind of exaggerating here, but just go with me ;)

I want to thank all of you who commented on my post yesterday for the suggestions and help as I continue on in my recovery. You all gave great advice...as always ;) That is why I love you bloggers! I am meeting with my nutritionist tomorrow afternoon to go over everything and I have lots of questions for her!

Last night I went to my sister's high school basketball and she scored 21 POINTS! Not only did she do extremely well but her team won too. Before the game I had a snack, a Chocolate Almond Fudge Clif Bar to hold me over until a late dinner.
This flavor was very chocolatey with pieces of almonds.I would definitely have this bar again although it is not one of my new favorites but it is still good!

After the game we came home and watched the last part of The Biggest Loser! What did you all think of it?!

This morning for breakfast I had Plain Chobani yogurt and Kashi Go Lean topped with a sliced banana and some of Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter with a glass of milk on the side.
Love me some peanut butter!

I then caught up on all my morning shows, Regis & Kelly and the Today Show, before showering and getting ready for the day. For my morning snack I had a Vanilla Boost with some Trader Joe's trail mix for a snack.

Then I was off to my therapist apopintment for a bit. It was so good to reconnect with her and I left the appointment feeling like we accomplished a lot! I am glad it went well because I hate when appointments don't go as well as you had hoped for or you leave feeling it was a waste of your precious time! Does this every happen to you?

Sorry to bore you with the pictures lately :/ I know this post looks exactly similiar to my one yesterday but like I said earlier...just go with me ;) I promise to post some new foodie soon!

Whats on the agenda for your Humpday night?

Some new favorites

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Hey hey hey! I first want to welcome all of my new readers. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and will join me on my journey through life :)

To rewind back to my eats from yesterday. First up we have the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Bar, a new favorites flavor of mine ;) I had heard lots of great reviews of this bar and I knew I had to give it a try. This bar did not let me down and now I know why people love this flavor! The bar was filled with macadamia nuts and white chocolate pieces. I suggest you all try this flavor...now!The bar was topped with some icing of course!

A new favorite recipe of mine is the crack wrap! This wrap was inspired by the one and only Mama Pea herself! I honestly don't know how you amazing bloggers come up with these amazing recipes. They are just simply amazing! If you don't know what the crack wrap is don't worry because I wil tell you all about it. First of all it is called the "crack" wrap because well it is ADDICTING! This wrap is similiar to a grilled cheese but better. It is simply a wrap filled with hummus and cheese folded up and grilled on the panini maker. Sounds pretty simple, right?! Well it is and super delicious. Just give it a try, trust me!My crack wrap was a La Tortilla Factory wrap filled with TJ classic hummus, american cheese, and apple slices. You will definitely be seeing more crack wraps in the future on my blog!

Breakfast this morning was a yogurt mess with Plain Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and a dollop of Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter along with a glass of milk. The peanut butter this morning was super creamy and I loved it. I took a lick off my spoon and I couldn't even swallow it without a sip of milk because that is how creamy it is! Mmmm. It definitely lives up to it's name and is by far the creamiest peanut butter I have ever tried. My pictures seem very clear to me today! I placed my bowl near the window so it could get all the sunlight and it defintely made the pictures a whole lot better! Don't ya think?!Yummy yogurt mess!

I usually eat at the same times every day while I am at home. Today I knew I was going to have to eat lunch a bit early since I had a doctors appointment this afternoon. So I made sure to shift my breakfast and morning snacks to earlier times so I wouldn't be eating my breakfast, snack, and lunch so close to each other. I have learned I have to do what I have to do despite how much ED hates it. So I just made sure I ate my breaksfast and lunch a half hour then I usually do, no biggie! I did this like I said so I wouldn't be eating so close together in such a short amount of time. I knew if I ate at my regular times it would have caused a lot of anxiety and stress on me. My morning snack was a bag of TJ trail mix and a Vanilla Boost. I then went to Trader Joe's and the grocery store to pick up a few staple foods. By the time I got home it was already time to eat lunch since I had a doctors appointment.

I had a weigh in and my blood pressure and pulse checked, ya know all the usual stuff. I was super nervous for my weigh in as I always am. Today the pediatrican's office was very busy and ended up waiting nearly a half hour before Candace saw me. I still do a blind weigh in and do not know my weight, nor do I want to. She never tells me my weight or how I did. I do however always look at her face to see her expression. I asked her today how I did and she told me it was good but it wasn't great! I didn't really know what that was supposed to mean though. She told my mom how I did after the appointment and of course my mom will tell me. I asked my mom how I did and she said I stayed the same :/

Now the last time I was weighed in was last Friday, so it was only four days ago. I wasn't really expecting a huge weight gain but I was kind of disappointed I didn't gain any weight! But on the other hand I was happy I didn't lose any weight! I have another weigh in this Friday and I am hoping to gain some weight by then. It is just kind of frustrating since I have been working so hard lately. I just need to do what I am supposed to do which is follow my meal plan each day and stay focused! I need to take each day one day at a time!

Well I am off to my sister's basketball game!

Rainy Monday

Monday, January 25, 2010

This morning I woke up to rain :( Not a good way start to the new week but oh well. So to make my rainy morning a lil better I knew trying some new peanut butter would do just the trick ;)

I received several squeeze packs of Justin's Honey Peanut Butter awhile ago that I have yet to try so this morning I finally gave it a try!

Justin's honey peanut butter was very good! The hint of honey gave the peanut butter a nice taste to it. Sometimes these squeezable packets can be a tad hard to get the peanut butter out, but this one was not which was a plus in my book. These lil packets are perfect for on the go and very convienient. I recommend trying Justin's nut butters, there are so many yummy flavors out there to try!My yogurt mess this morning was Plain Chobani yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana topped with a drizzle of Justin's Honey peanut butter along with a glass of milk on the side.

I usually prefer Vanilla yogurt but I have noticed within the past week plain yogurt is not so bland and boring when you add yummy peanut butter with it! The plain Chobani went great with the honey peanut butter.

Honey peanut butter drizzled on top.

Yogurt mess all mixed up in a mug that I painted a few years ago at a clay studio. Hah.

I then relaxed with momma after breakfast then showered and got ready for the day.

My morning snack was a serving of TJ trail mix and a Vanilla Boost. You may have noticed my snacks are always in Ziploc snack bags. Well that is because I pre portion them out ahead of time so when it is time for a snack I just grab a bag and enjoy. This causes a lot less stress and anxiety for me having them already for me to eat. I recommend trying this lil trick ;)

Well it is still raining outside on this Monday afternoon :/ My lil sister's basketball game got cancelled because the school they were supposed to play at is flooded...so no afternoon plans for muah!

Girl Scouts Cookie

Sunday, January 24, 2010

So it is that time of year when the lil girls are around town selling Girl Scouts Cookies. There are so many yummy cookies to choose from like Samoas, Trefoils, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Thank U Berry Munch, and Dulce de Leche. My mom of course already bought our fair share of cookies for the family, the Thin Mints and Samoas obviously. My favorite girl scout cookie hands down is Thin mint. I used to love them!

What is your favorite Girl Scouts Cookie?

Yesterday I discovered a new Thin Mint Cookie which was the Cool Mint Chocolate Clif Bar! This flavor was amazing and I am pretty sure I died and went to Clif Bar Heaven ;) Mint and Chocolate are the perfect combination together. I took my time eating this bar and savored each and every delicious bite. The whole time I thought I was eating a Thin Mint cookie! This flavor is definitely a new favorite of mine :)

Nice icing on top of the bar!

Okay so enough raving about my new favorite Clif Bar! My breakfast this morning was the usual yogurt mess with Plain Brown Cow yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, a sliced banana, and a dollop of Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter along with a glass of milk.

Just look at that peanut butter!

After breakfast I showered and got ready for the day and then my mom and I were off to pick up my lil sister from lacrosse practice and then to her basketball game. Of course a morning snack was eaten in the car. I had some TJ's trail mix and a Strawberry slushy Boost. My sister's team obviously won and she did great.

After the game we came home and it was already lunch time and then off to my other sister's lacrosse game! There was no down time today, we were on the go all day. But hey, I am SO not complaining. I much rather be out doing things rather than sitting at home doing nothing. I am such a home body at heart and I love spending time at home with my family but I always like to have something to do!

Lunch was turkey, american cheese, and gala apple slices on whole wheat bread paninied with some pretzels, the rest of the apple, and milk. A pretty standard Jenna lunch ;)

I love how the cheese melts! It is the perfect combination with the turkey and apple.

After my sister's lacrosse game I had the Chocolate Brownie Clif Bar for my afternoon snack. This was my first time trying this flavor and I am not gonna lie I was a bit scared at first. I have a hard time eating foods that have the words chocolate, brownie, or desserts in them. Do you get what I mean? Does that make any sense?! ED tells me I should not eat them because they are bad foods. But of course I beat ED and told him in reality all Clif Bars are great and healthy for me despite what flavor they are!

Overall the bar was good and it tasted like a chocolate brownie! But I thought it was quite chocolatey and very filling. I liked the flavor and all but it does not make it on my top favorite flavors.

Then my mom and I were off to the grocoery store to pick up some things for dinner. Tonight she cooked up a Perdue chicken along with some peas, rice pilaf, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes. So now I am off to enjoy my Sunday dinner! I will let you know what I had tomorrow.

Oh yeah I also picked up a few bars for myself. Whoops! I think I am all set for bars for quite awhile. I got the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Bar, Choco-walla and Banana Nut Odwalla Bars, and an Apple Cinnamon Harvest Power Bar! Can't wait to try them all.
Notice how I am buying new and different bars and not the same ones! I have become more open and willing to try new bars to see which ones I like. I mean I will never know which bars are my favorite or not until I try them, right?!

Back in the summer I would only eat the Power Bars and Clif Bars that had to lowest amount of calories, fat, etc. even if the flavor wasn't appealing to me. I have learned I mine as well enjoy what I eat. I mean honestly who cares if there is 10 or 20 more calories in one flavor of a bar than another. It is no big deal and those ten or so extra calories aren't gonna matter!

I remember in the summer really wanting to try the Maple Nut Clif Bar or the Chocolate Chip flavor because they seemed so yummy but ED would win and only let me get the flavors with the lowest calories even if I didn't like that flavor. But now I have become stronger than ED and I try to ignore him at all costs because really he knows nothing ;)

Well I am off to eat dinner! Have a good Sunday night :)
