Holy yum and Holy yuck!

Morning! I just had to post this morning because I have to tell you how much I loved my dinner last night featuring SWEET POTATOES! I couldn't resist not trying these cheetahs ever since seeing them everywhere in the blog world. I have heard nothing but good things about them so I knew I just had to try them and last night was the night!
I cut one sweet potato into circular discs and placed them on aluminum foil on a baking sheet. I cooked them for 15 mintues on one side and then flipped them over to let them cook for another 15 minutes.

The end result came out stellar! I could smell the cheetahs baking in the oven and they came out perfect with brown spots! I may have cut some of the slices a bit too thin but next time I know to cut them a little thicker.

*NOTE* Before you start leaving anon comments bashing on how this is NOT enough for dinner (because I know that is what you were gonna do anyways!) this was just a part of my dinner last night. I just want to clarify this and show the highlight of my dinner, which was the sweet potatoes! I paired my sweet potato fries with a veggie burger for dinner. I also had a side of steamed broccoli, a dinner roll, and a glass of milk that went unpictured. I just wanted to share with you the highlight of my dinner! The sweet potatoes were delicious and I am so glad I finally had the chance to make them! You can bet I will be having these soon in the near future.

So after having a great experience with sweet potatoes last night I thought I was going to have yet another delicious meal this morning but boy was I WRONG! I wanted to gi
ve oatmeal another try after seeing all of you bloggers having it all the time and loving it!

I started off by combining 1/2 cu
p Quaker Oats and 1 cup water on the stove top with one sliced banana. I continued to mix all the ingredients together for about 5 minutes until the oats get to a thick consistency. While cooking it looked pretty good and I was excited to eat it topped with some Crazy Richard's creamy peanut butter on top.
But this bowl of oatmeal was the exact opposite of what I thought of my cheetahs :( I have to be honest with you...OATMEAL is not for me! I am so much more of a yogurt mess kind of girl ;) Can't wait to be reunited with my yogurt mess for breakfast tomorrow morning! This bowl of oatmeal was BLAH. There was no taste whatsoever and I nearly had to force it down my throat to finish it. Yuck! I should have just threw it away and made something else but I don't like wasting food so I managed to finish it. You will not be seeing me make oatmeal any time soon in the near future.

So I had a holy yum dinner and a holy yuck breakfast! But hey ya learn from your mistakes and you only know if you will like something if you give it a try and that is what I did. Right? Ya win some and ya lose some ;)

You made it WAAAYYY wrong girl.
PLEASE give this a shot-

1/3 Cup Old Wessex 5-grain cereal (NEVER quick oats...that's gross and pasty)
1/3 Cup milk
1/3 Cup water
1/2 banana

Cook that on the stovetop, and then add your toppings. PLEASE try this before you swear off all oatmeal. I PROMISE you that it will be worth it.

I'm sooo sick of these anons. Blahh.
But I bought sweet potatoes and I am definitely having some for lunch tomorrow! It'll be my first time. I can't wait. And got tip on not cutting them too thin. I'll have to remember that.

Jenna, at this point I hope the anons stop replying-because those are the people who are telling you what you need and it is only stressing us/them out. Some are your friends. Some dont' know you. But everyone wants the same. I'm trying to convince a friend to go to treatment, and she is saying everything you are saying-except she is FIFTEEN YEARS OLDER then you. Do you want that? Really?
I'm done after this.
Your friends will tell you and then they will get fed up-trust me. Your readers are all backing you for treatment -I cant waste my energy on this. Good luck.

You're being rude and ignorant by ignoring the anon comments-they are clearly from people who know you, or care. Oh Jenna...I hope someone can open your eyes. truly.

Sweet Potato Fries. Sensational! I can't believe you went so long without them. How did you live? ;)

Meg said...

Pshh girl you already know how I feel about sweet potato fries! Haha!

Try adding some sweet stuff to your oats - I usually add Truvia or honey - it's A LOT better that way and doesn't taste so bland!

Love ya. Talk to you soon!

To the other anons-I care and want to post to Jenna right now -she's not listening so the best we can do is just live our lives and wish her the best. Jenna, girl, you know what you need to do-and I'm from the New England area, go to CEDC or Renfrew or Laurel Hill. But, at least do something. I went in an ambulance, trust me you don't want that.

Oh I feel ya on the oatmeal girl. The only way I can eat oatmeal is with brown sugar and that isn't good so I just don't eat it!

Tony said...

You either hate it or you love it. Personally, oatmeal with the right amount of peanut butter ALWAYS tastes good to me.

I do not know Jenna, just know what path she is headed down. Having said that, I wish you could see what you are doing to yourself Jenna-All the foods you are eating have ZERO fat in them. You need to eat different types of food in order to gain any weight.
You say you want to turn this thing around. You can't do this alone, you need help. PLEASE get some soon :(

Jenna said...

I understand your concern on what I eat but I do see a professional nutritionist who knows a lot more than you do and she has creatied a meal plan appropriate for my needs!

Anonymous said...

Jenna-I'm not trying to be mean, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to get you to see the big picture here. Please do not take offense.
I only wish you the best, really :)
Keep up the good work Jenna :)
