Evening y'all! Hope your Thursday went swell :)
I am still heading in the right direction even after my appointment which went well yesterday.I just keep reminding myself I need to continue to do this and I cannot stop here. There are no more taking breaks! Doing well for one week is NOT recovery, it is a lot more than that!
This morning I had my first Microbiology test which I was kinda nervous for because it is a hard course. But I went into the test feeling confident and I already got our results back and I overall I was satisfied with my score :)
But the worst part about the test was how I had a major headache :( Right after the test was over I immediately grabbed some lunch and then came back to my room and took some Advil and layed down for a bit.
Lunch was turkey and swiss cheese wheat wrap with pretzels, an apple, and milk.
After lunch, a lil nap, and a snack I went to the mall with two of my girlfriends and then met up with the other girls for dinner.
One thing I am currently having a hard time dealing with is the times I eat. Like this afternoon I had a snack at 3:30 and then two hours later I was already eating dinner. I feel like I am always eating :/
When I am at home my eating schedule is a bit more flexible! I tend to eat every two and a half hours which I like because when the time comes around I am usually hungry. But while at school my schedule has changed with classes and such so therefore my eating schedule has changed as well. I just keep reminding myself it doesn't really matter whether I eat my dinner at 5:30 or 7:30 because I am going to have to eat it anyways regardless of the time. You know what I mean?
And I wanted to let you know tonight was my fourth night in a row eating in the dining hall with my girls! I am so proud of myself because towards the end of the semester last year I would never eat with them, I would always bring my dinner back to my room and eat alone. Eating in the dining hall with my friends is SO much fun and I love it! I look forward to it each day. I honestly don't know what I was doing last semester, clearly I was NOT thinking as I was so stuck in my ED. This might not seem like a big deal to you, but for me it is a really big step and I am very proud of myself :)
Do you ever get stressed out about eating meals/snacks so close together?!

Girl I am proud of you and you should be proud of yourself!! I bet it felt great to eat with them!!!! I also bet they were glad that you did!!!
Hope you have a great weekend!!! xoxo
I think it IS a big deal to eat in the dining hall! Eating disorders are very isolating. I'm doing well with my food, but I still feel uncomfortable in some group eating situations (I just posted about this, actually). It's easier for me to stick to my own routines, even though what I eat is pretty normal these days.
As far as eating times, I'm somewhat particular about that too. I don't like to eat too close together, though I realize from experiments in flexibility that it doesn't REALLY matter. Even non-ed people would consider it annoying to if their bodies aren't fully hungry... it's just part of recovery. I eat every 2-3 hours during the day, but by the time I get home and make dinner, it's almost 8pm! That means I have to have snack right after dinner. I'm fine with that now :)
proud of you love!!
i am always eating too-its better for you that way! you keep your energy level up!!
Hey even if it's not a big deal to others, it is to you which makes it important :) I'm proud of your accomplishment!
Also I totally know what you mean. Sometime I feel like I'm ALWAYS eating. And not always because I'm hungry, but because I "should". But I also know I'm not very good at listening to my body for hunger cues, so eating when I'm "supposed to" it good.
And when it get's hard, just remember, your brain needs that glucose to function and study! And to do well as a nursing major!
Sounds like you're doing good! Keep up the good work! I know it can be a struggle, but you can do it!!
Eating in the dining hall is an AMAZING accomplishment! YAY!
And yea, I do feel like I'm always eating, but then again I (and pretty much all food bloggers) really do eat all the time. Eating all the time is the right thing to do though because it keeps your blood sugar level. I know how college people can be with skipping meals, but you've been there, done that and now it is time to move on.
You sound like you're doing a lot better! You can do it girl!
I´m so proud of you, Jenna!
That´s amazing progress, to keep eating with your friends. You´re doing a great job :)
I´m sorry about your headache. I´m sure it won´t happend again.
Good luck on the Microbiology results :D
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
yay so proud of you jenna for doing well on your test, keeping upwith your eating, and going to the dining hall with your friends!! you're doing so great!
Wooo you go girl! It's so great that you're eating in the dining hall again! I used to get stressed about eating snacks and dinner close together but now I don't sweat it because I know my body will regulate how much it needs to function and feel good. Plus it's not like you're mindless snacking (like eating chips from the bag while watching tv, or something like that!) Snacks are great to keep your energy up! :) Keep it up girl! And good job with the micro test! That was definitely my hardest undergrad class and now I'm in pharmacy school! :) xoxo
Soo proud of youu!! That wrap looks phenomenal -- stuffed to the brim with turkey, just the way it should be!! :) Glad your test went well. Keep up the great work girl!
Jenna, it makes me really happy to hear you're sticking to your goals. A little push in the right direction for me too.
Yay about eating in the dining hall!!! That's a big, big step! And i'm weird about my eating times too.. I don't know if it's my ed voice kicking in but I like to stick to a specific schedule. I know it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but yeah.. I understand. You just have to push past it.
Congrats on eating in the dining hall four days in a row! SO amazing!

Congrats on eating in the dining hall - four days in a row, wow! That is so great!
I can completely relate to being stressed about feeling like you're constantly eating and/or eating your meals close together...! While I was gaining weight, I had such a hard time with that. I just continued following my plan and eventually, that stressful feeling lessened. I still have moments where I feel stressed about things like that, but one step at a time, right? :)
Stay strong, Jenna. :)

That's great to hear. I know what you mean about schedules messing with usual eating habits. It's just something students have to deal with on a daily bases so look at it as a normal irration!! :)
I know how you feel about having snacks close together.. I feel like there isn't enough time in the day sometimes. Otherwise eating every 2-2.5 hours is the only way to get the food in, haha. Its especially hard when your not hungry! Thats so great about the dining hall, you should be proud! It is a huge step.. keep it up. :)
Yaay on eating in the dining hall again! Isn't it werid how when we were so consumed with out EDS, we thought we were in control and fine when in reality we locked ourselves up in a little restrictive bubble? hehe As for the meal plan thing, yeah, I know what you mean - but who said recovery is easy? We worked our asses off (no pun intended) getting ourselves in a very disordered state, so it's only logical to have to work hard to get ourselves out, right? :-)) Stay strong love - we're all in this together!
XOX.
Sounds like you are really giving it your all! I can definitely relate to feeling like you are always eating. It is part of the weight restoration process. You are going to be uncomfortable. You are going to feel overly full sometimes. Meals may come around that you have to eat, and yet you have no hunger. It is part of recovery. It is giving your body what you know it needs even if it doesn't know it. Take care...
Well done Jenna. I;ve been following your blog for about 2 months now and I'm so glad you are finally getting yourself better. You should be so proud of yourself, I kknow how hard it must be for you. Your family sound amazing as well, so supportive.
To answer your question, I do sometimes worry about eating meals/snacks close together. eg. I don't like it when I get up late + have breakfast, then have lunch a few hrs later. I know what you mean though when you say you have to eat it regardless of the time. You're still eating the same calories, just close together. But I know how difficult it is to think of it like that. Stay strong! Helen x
Good for you, Jenna! It's so important to eat with others and to branch out! I eat very frequently throughout the day so I don't really find it to be a hard thing. I love eating and I'm usually hungry every 3 hours, so I go with the flow. But I understand that you don't want to feel like all your time is being consumed with eating, thinking about eating, making snacks, etc. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
im so proud of you for eating in the dinning halll!!! that is a huge step in recovery. i do sometimes get like annoyed if i have to eat my meals/snacks close together but im mostly in control of the times i eat so it doesnt stress me out to much. but your so logical like ur going to have to dinner no matter what so who cares? way to go girl!!
amy<3
Way to go girl! Eating at funny times is just a part of college. Your body will get used to it and you will figure out how to make it work for you...no worries!
eating with friends is why i love going out so much..the convo flows, and the drinks might flow. but its all good. Throw worry out of the window and enjoy your time with friends!
xoxo
lolo
Jenna way to go on eating in the caf!!! From personal experience I know how difficult that can be. I HATE our caf for a combination of reasons, a large one of which is ed. So way to go, that's awesome!
