"Your parents are so cool!"

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Wait, what?! Did someone actually say my parents were cool?! Haha yes they did! More on that in a lil bit ;)

I want to thank all of you who commented on my last post! It means a lot to me having all your support on me going back to school. I love all of the LOVE and support the blog world gives :)

My Saturday breakfast started off with a yogurt mess, Plain Brown Cow yogurt topped with Kashi Go Lean and a sliced banana with some creamy Crazy Richard's on top. And of course with a glass of milk on the side, a girls gotta get her calcium in for strong bones ;)
I know you guys are probably getting bored looking at my yogurt messes everyday in my same Anthropologie bowl. Don't lie, I know you are ;) I am actually suprosed you are still reading my blog daily! Hah. But hey a girls gotta eat and I am gonna eat what I like, and what I like to eat for breakfast is...YOGURT MESSES! But I must be honest I myself am getting pretty bored posting the same eats everyday! I'm not gonna lie.

But for the past two weeks since I have turned things around, I have been doing well and I have been having yogurt messes for breakfast every day. This meal seems to be working for me as I have been doing well so I keep continue to have them. I don't want to change things up if they are currenlty working for me. Does that make any sense?! I mean soon I know I will get sick of having yogurt messes every single day so I will have to switch it up! I mean there are other breakfast meals I did have before on my blog like cereal, oats, overnight oats, vitatops etc. But I just don't want to switch things up if they are currently working well for me. But I KNOW I must not be afraid of CHANGE. Change is good!

Well back to my parents being COOL ;) This afternoon I went to the phone store to set up my voicemail on my iPhone since it wasn't working properly. When the guy at the store brought up my phone information he told me he recognized the name and knew who my parents were. He told me they were his best customers and were so cool! I was thinking to myself...are we talking about the same people?! Haha. No, but really my parents are wicked awesome and I am truly thankful I have such cool parents. Now that I think of it my parents are VERY cool and hip compared to other parents. They have given me everything I every wanted in life and so much more. They may or may have not spoiled my sisters and I a little too much ;) They are both so supportive and always there for me. I love them both so much!

So enough talking about my cool parents, I am now off to relax on this cold Saturday night.

What is the weather like where you live?!

P.S. Florida bloggers, I don't wanna hear it is sunny and 70 degrees ;) Okay?!

It's FAH-REEEEZING here and still snowing. Eek! The roads are a mess, too -- DC doesn't know how to deal with winter weather.

Enjoy your night!

lol I wish it were 70 and sunny here..it's definitely in the upper 20s and snowing!

That's awesome you got a great set of parents! My mom is super super cool and I hear the same about her all the time from people. It's kinda cool :)

Have you tried the "breakfast cookie" that is sweeping the blogosphere? It's really similar to your breakfast you eat now, but in "cookie" form (not baked though. just refrigerated!)

If you want to give it a whirl sometime the Fitnessista makes them a lot; here's a link to one she recently made:

Enjoy! :D

I totally understand how you don't want to change things up that work for you! I have the same exact bowl of oats every single morning, and I enjoy it! It's nice and warm and tasty and most importantly, it works. :) I do also agree that someday it would be nice to change it up, but I'll let that be whenever it wants to happen. You're lucky you have cool parents! I don't think many daughters/sons would be able to say that!

aww how sweet about your parents! my mom is pretty cool and it always cracks me up when people tell me that. i totally understand your yogurt mess everyday thing...i eat the same yogurt-y breakfast almost every single day, it's a huge challenge for me to mix it up, you know? i've decided not to fight it too much, i should eat what i want when i want as long as it doesn't turn into something like an ED ritual

it's c-c-c-c-olllld in boston -- though not as bad as friday! gotta love yogurt messes!

Hmm.. the internet seems to have eaten my last comment, I think?

I eat the same bowl of oats every morning too, and I do agree that someday it would be nice to change things up, but I'll let that come when it does. If it works, why mess with it? When I woke up this morning, the air temp was 12*F and the "feels like" temp was -1*F. So yeah... fuh-reaking cold! Stay warm!

I eat cereal every morning, so don't worry about it! It's FREEZING here...it looks like smoke is people's mouths when they breathe! Spring can't come soon enough :)

Jenna,if ur yogurt messes r what let u keep doing what u do then keep it going, but to help u recover , it always helps to transition into not having the same thing every day. Glad u r loving ur parents! Happy Saturday

lol-- my parents are cool too. In fact, oftentimes I wonder if they are cooler than I am!!

I do the same thing-- stick with a breakfast for weeks or months until I get totally sick of it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!! Can't wait to keep reading :-)

HI Jenna!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Glad you liked the guest post. Can't wait to read more of your blog. I CT it is sooo cold. I don't even know the temp, but it had to be single digits yesterday and felt like negative ones. I'm a wimp who is from California though.

I've heard that my parents are cool and I have a hard time accepting it! But you're right, compared to other parents...they're pretty cool :)

thanks so much for stopping by my blog!! i look forward to checking yours out too :)

i love yogurt messes! honestly, i understand why you want to encourage yourself to embrace change BUT at the same time i think it's refreshingly normal to want the same thing for breakfast every day! at least, i hope so?!?! i ate a yogurt mess every single day in the summer, and now i eat pumpkin oatmeal every single day. sometimes on the weekends i will make pancakes but usually not because i want the oatmeal so much more!!!

Yoghurt messes are beyond delicious!!! :)
Haha yup it's cold out here in Portland, Oregon too. boooo. I want summer!

Yogurt messes, (I called them parfaits then) seriously helped me gain 10 pounds. Ready for the ingredients?
-container soy yogurt (plain)
-fruit (1/2 banana and strawberries)
-1/2 cup grape nuts
-1/4 c. slivered almonds
-1 tbsp sesame seeds
-1/4 c. granola
-a peanut butter spoon

If I was feeling really motivated, I added avocado and chocolate chips! Oh my gosh, it makes my belly hurt just to think about it! There was probably 800-1000 calories in each bowl. :-D Yogurt messes work!!

Hi Jenna! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I'm from Boston too so I definitely sympathize with you on this freezing cold we are experiencing. I really miss 70 degree weather!

Yeah, I definitely get comfortable eating the same thing every morning for breakfast, just because it works so well for the rest of the day... Last semester I would have eggs for lunch literally like everyday just because it FIT so well with my daily eats... I'd say go out of your comfort zone and switch it up a bit and see how you feel! It's always fun to try new things and I think it will help you realize, "wow! I can eat whatever for breakfast, and it STILL works well in my meal plan, food for the day!" Sometimes the spontaneousness helps me keep things interesting :) hehe

I definitely am NOT sick of your yummy bowls! It is absolute deliciousness..it must be shown. hehe ;)

It is SNOWY here!

In SF the weather is gray, foggy and rainy, which equals "blahhh" annnd I have work for 8 hours! But I guess it'd be worse if it was sunny--cause at least this way--I'm out and about and outta the rain. :-) Yeah--I know what you mean when you say it "works for you"--that's how I am with my daily breakfast of TJs Smart Fiber cereal + berries, bananas and apples heated up in the microwave on high for 50 secs. hehe It works for me so who cares whether it's boring to someone else? ;-) Have a lovely day hun!
