TGIF everyone! Hope you all had a good week so far and have an ever better weekend. I can't wait because tomorrow I am going on vacation for the week with the famslam :) I can already hear the beach callin' my name ;) I love this vacation because we go away with my cousins and their cousins and their friends and it is just one full week of beach and FUN!!

But before I leave I will leave you with a food filled post along with a realization I had this past week at the end of this post!
BARNEY BUTTER ALMOND BUTTER CRUNCHY! This AB tastes just like peanut butter but even better because it is made from almonds. I just love the taste and texture and that it is a no-stir or oil separation and loveee that it has great chunks of roasted almonds in each bite :)more AB yog messes of course. I just can't get away from this AB!AB & Strawberry Yogurt mess! Fage 2%, Multi Grain Cheerios, banana, strawberry, and AB.I bought the Siggi's Blueberry yogurt awhile back and finally tried it this morning and wow...holy TART! This yogurt was veryyy sweet tasting which I really did not like at the beginning. I guess this is just a change from my plain greek yogurt! I got used to the tartness once I started to eat but overall I thought it was just okay. I liked the Vanilla flavor the best so far and will have to try the other flavors as well.I definitely have been eating lots of bars for snacks lately. I guess you could just call me "the bar girl." Well, actually now that I think about that I take it back ;) I just like bars for snacks because there is such a wide variety of them which come in soo many flavors and are very convenient which I like because I tend to be always out and on the go!Mocha Chip Balance Bar*Not to self* Do not bring bars containing chocolate outside with you an hour prior to eating or else you will get a nice melted bar. I mean I really didn't mind licking the excess chocolate off the inside wrapper (TMI? Oh well!). But I do mind the fact that I kept having to check myself out in the mirror of my iPhone to make sure I didn't have chocolate smeared all over my face in public!Cookie Dough Balance Bar. I am really lovin' these bars lately and If you haven't noticed but I tend to get on little hiatus' with bars. Once I try them I will have them for like a week straight and then go onto a new bar. Hah. But lately I have been trying to switch it up! Cashew Cookie Larabar (just okay!)Carrot Cake Larabar was good!Buffalo turkey & american cheese on wheat bread, Annie's Cheddar Bunnies, and a pear. This past week at the grocery store my mom bought this new buffalo turkey and OMG it is so so good! It has a nice spicy kick to and overall I just love it. I think I have a new love to spicy and hot foods! They just take food to a whole new level.Ham & cheese sandwich, pretzels, and an apple.

Of course like I said above I have been having lots of bars for snack lately...need I say more?!Dinner last night was a cheeesburger with all the fixings and some of my mom's pasta salad!

So like I have probably said before on my blog but if you haven't heard me talk about it I will now. In high school I was a 3 sport varsity athlete in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Although my favorite out of the 3 sports was by far LACROSSE ;) I started playing when I was in seventh grade and I absolutely loved it ever since. I also played club lacrosse all through out high school and then go recruited to play Division II college lacrosse. Lacrosse is such a cool fun sport that is different from others and is new and up incoming!

My family is very involved in sports. Sports will and always be a big part in my life. I just find that playing or watching sports is fun! My dad is a super sports fanatic, while my mom is the director of girls lacrosse in my town and my two younger sisters play field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. We are a very busy family and always on the go, either at practices, games, or tournaments.

But with all of that said this past week got me really thinking a lot about my past and what ED has robbed me of and most of all how much I really do miss lacrosse :( I will be completely honest with you, when I was real deep in my ED I could care less about pretty much anything and didn't care that I completely gave up and lost my athletic scholarship to play DII lacrosse.

This summer has been pretty tough for me but definitely motivational in a way. Since it is the summertime, my younger sister has had many lacrosse tournaments which I have gone to watch her play! Going to her tournaments has brought back sooo many memories of being playing the sport I loved and this was quite emotional for me. I would just remember all of the fun times I had together with my friends and teammates and just the overall feeling I got when I played. Just seing my sister and all of these other girls playing lacrosse was hard for me to watch knowing that I WAS once before one of them playing lacrosse and it kills me now to think about it.

Last week my sister went to a lacrosse camp at a local college nearby where the college girls on the Division I lacrosse team were the counselors. When I went to watch my sister at camp I noticed all of the college girls there at the camp who were just so healthy and happy looking and made me want to be just like them again. I mean I once WAS one of them before so I know I can be like that again. A healthy and happy athletic college lacrosse girl :) I noticed that NONE of the girls were stick skinny but they all had healthy weight on them and were in great shape, fit and toned. It was a HUGE eye-opener for me and I cam to realize that you are not considered "fat" when you play sports (that is just ED telling me so)...you are considered HEALTHY and that is what I want to be!!

I realized ED has stolen one thing I really loved playing and had a true passion for and now I am going to get it BACK! I know this is ONE HUGE goal I am setting for myself but it is definitely something I want back into my life that I have missed so much. I am up for this challenge and I am so ready to keep moving forward and in the right direction in recovery which is just one more step closer to playing lax on the field once again!
Now I am off to get packing to set out on vacation! Have a great weekend :)

What a weekend!

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Hey! Well let me just start off by saying I had a great weekend and I hope you all did too! My time was spent visiting my cousins in CT for the weekend and let me just alsi say I am POOPED! Watching two lil ones under the age of 3 who have lots of energy and are oh so cute take a lot of work!

I am gonna do a lil recap of my eats this past weekend. I was very proud of myself because all I brought was 2 clif bars and 2 Boosts for snacks and that's it. I was going to make myself eat whatever was available and to not bring my special "safe" foods. I knew I was going to be OK because last time I visited them their kitchen was fully stocked and it was this time around as well.
Before I went out to run all of my errands I ate this new to me Alomnd Trail Mix Earnest Bar. This bar was delicious and there was some flavor in it that just took this bar to the next level. Can't wait to try out the other flavors as well!

Before we hit the road I ate some lunch.
Turkey & American Cheese on wheat with a pear and Annie's Cheddar Bunnies (loves!!)Afternoon snack in the car was a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Bar.

We finally arrived after a few hours in the car and I was so excited to see my cute lilttle cousins. Then it was barbeque time!
For the first time ever I had a turkey dog! There was also chicken and burgers but to tell you the truth I am quite sick of both of those so I decided to go with the turkey dog. I haven't had a hot dog in soo long and I was glad I had one the other night. Even though it wasn't a REAL beef hot dog (it was a turkey hot dog) I really couldn't taste the difference!
I was happy with myself for choosing something different despite whatever ED told me because quite frankly he did tell me to go with the boring chicken but I didn't listen, I ate what I wanted and NOT ED. With the turkey dog I had some baked beans and some TJ's stir fried veggies. After dinner we all hung out together and I had a Boost later on then went to bed since it was getting late.

After a good night's sleep I woke up ready to spend the day with the kiddos!I had a yogurt mess with Fage and Cheerios topped with banana and Justin's butter. Clif Mojo Sweet & Salty Trail Mix Bar for snack. This bar is so good filled with tons peanut butter chips and I love the sweet & salty combo.

My aunt, grammy, cousin and I took the two little ones downtown for the afternoon since we were on babysitting duty for the day! We first stopped at Uncle's Deli for lunch. My aunt and uncle mentioned this place to be good and it was voted the best deli four years in a row so we just had to stop and eat there. The thing I learned this weekend is that the kids go first and I go second! I hade to make sure they got their lunch and ate it before I could get mine!I got the typical turkey, american cheese, lettuce, and tomato on wheat bread. The sandwich was loaded with turkey as you can see. When it comes to ordering sandwiches for lunch I always tell myself I am going to try something new since there are SO many different chooses but ED always chimes in and just tells me to go with my usual go to lunch sandwich and I can't stand it because I WANT to eat something new! I mean I do love turkey but having it almost ever day I kind of get sick of it and want and need a change, so that is one thing I am definitely working on now a days.Afternoon snack was a Chocolate Chip Clif Bar before heading to the beach before dinner. We went around 6 o'clock and the beach was so nice beacuse it was not super HOT but it was still very enjoyable. For dinner we just got take out and I got a Grilled Chicken salad with bread on the side. It was definitely not the world's greatest, just a typical pizzza house salad. Blah. But like Janetha always says ya win some, ya lose some and I guess I lost this one. Later last night I had a Boost and then went straight to bed because I was tired and needed some major rest.

This morning I woke up and made breakfast for the two little ones and then made myself breakfast.
I had another yogurt mess in the Fage container with the last remains of the yog, Kashi Honey Sunshine and banana topped with Costco creamy peanut butter which was very good and creamyyy. I ate a Lemon Zest Luna Bar this morning for a snack and realized how much I really miss Luna Bars so I need to make sure I have them more often ;) Then I went for a walk with the kids in the stroller around the neighborhood.

For lunch we went to the Sugar Bowl Luncheonette! My aunt and uncle recommended we all go there for lunch since they love it and now I know why. The inside was super cool and I wish I took some pictures. It was filled with summery and beachy things and my aunt said they always decorate for all the holidays! I love how it was so hip and very diner like! I could tell all the locals love it here.
Again I got the usual turkey, american cheese, lettuce, and tomato on toasted wheat bread. Boring I know! But this time I got some sweet potato fries that were face rockin' delicious!

Then it was time to say good-bye and hit the road to go home :(
On the way home I snacked on a Cookie Dough Balance Bar. Melty and chocolately but still good!
When I got home it was just my dad and I so he offered to go and grab us dinner from Panera Bread and I got the Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken salad with a baguette on the side.

Well there it is folks! I am tired from this fun-filled weekend and am going to bed now because tomorrow I gotta full day of nannying ahead of myself :)

And I'm off!

Friday, July 16, 2010

Hey loves and Happy Friday! I am going to do a lil quick post for y'all before I head out for the weekend once again :) I am visiting my cousins for the weekend with my aunt and grandma!

So you can probably say I have been a lil obsessed with overnight oats lately.
Yesterday morning I woke up to Overnight Oats in a Jar.
The night before I mixed a packet of oatmeal with Yoplait Plain Greek yogurt in an almost empty jar of AB and added a lil bit of milk and let it sit overnight to soak up. Then in the AM I added sliced banana on top and gave it some stirs and there ya have it!Holy yum! It is soo good. I love how the oats get soaked up in the yogurt and how with each bite I get a taste of AB ;)

Since I had yet another nearly empty jar of pb I just had to re-create OOIAJ again last night for this morning ;)
This was the same as the previous day with a packet of oatmeal and Yoplait Plain Greek yogurt in a pb jar and then topped with banana. If you haven't tried Overnight Oats I highly advise you to give it a try tonight!
I haven't forgotten about my lovely yogurt messes, don't worry!Yummy omlet made with two eggs, american cheese, and broccoli with an english muffin with the last droplets of blueberry jam, I know pretty pathetic but that's all that was left!

I have been switching up my morning snacks by trying new and different bars.

Kashi Caramel Peanut Roll! bar. These Roll! bars are very good and I love how chewy they are as well.Peanut Butter Pretzel Clif Mojo bar.I love how sweet and salty this bar is!Nature's Path MMMaple Pecan chewy granola bar.

Lunches have been the typical turkey sandwiches.

And of course with Annie's Chocolate Bunnies. We have come pretty much in love with Annie's products in my house that my mom stocked up with a few boxes at Target since they were on sale :) We also love Annie's mac & cheese too!I had this Strawberry Crunch Harvest Power Bar the other day at the movies when I went to see Grown-Ups which was wicked funny, almost too funny. I like these bars and they are very oat-y (if that makes any sense?!). They are nutritionally the same as Clif Bars but are a nice change.

This whole week I have been having dinner kinda lately. Kinda random but I just thought I would let y'all know!

A few nights ago I had Chicken Alredo with broccoli!

Pre-ED this dinner was definitely one of my favorite meals...no doubt! I would order it out at restaurants and loved my mom's homemade chicken alfredo. But ever since ED I have strayed away from it because of course the dreaded SAUCE. ED would once again tell me not to have this meal because of the sauce, he would suggest I just have it plain with the noodles, broccoli, & chicken. Umm can you say boring and so not tasty?! I think so. I mean of course I would be getting in my carbs, veggies, and protein, but hello what about a lil bit of fat to make this dish taste that much better! I was so glad I had this meal for dinner and it tasted amazing :)

Yesterday my mom and I made one of our weekly visits to Target (of course) and this little package spotted my eye ;)

This would be P.F. Changs Shrimp in a Garlic Sauce. I have never seen these meals or heard about them before, have you? They had a buch of different variations but I settled on this one. They were also on clearance since I don't think they are selling at the Target I go to. But don't worry because I bought them ;) This meal was super easy to cook as well. All I had to do was cook it on a skillet on medium high for about ten minutes and look how tasty it looks! It was as if I was actually dining at P.F. Changs ;)Since this frozen meal only came with shrimp and veggies I need some carbs in this meal (obvs!) so I could up some white rice and then topped it with the shrimp and veggies. This meal was quite spicy since it was cooked in garlic sauce but it added a great kick to it which I loved! Overall I really enjoyed this meal and plan on going back to Target to buy some more of the other flavors since they were good and on sale.

Well I am off to go get my eyebrows waxed then to the bank, Borders to get me some books, and get a sticker on my car all before I leave for the weekend in about 2 1/2 hours! Eeek!

Have a great weekend :)
